my mother would not be happy but...

lately, along with my spring fever, i have been wanting to buy a scooter. how precious would that be? couldn't you see me cruising around town on a green scooter. 80 mpg...I could go the entire summer on a tank of gas just going to work and the gym. wouldn't that be glorious.



now, these are relatively safe..much safer than a motorcycle. put on a cute helmet (mind you a sturdy/durable helmet) and you are ready to go.

spring fever...spring cleaning.

I have the worst spring fever. Last year, winter lasted until June (i swear) in provo, and let's keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't last that long EVER again. I love winter for the time it lasts, let's say thanksgiving to the end of february?..but past that, I dread it! I'm ready for the warm weather, the flowers and greenness (the little that Utah can give me), school to be over/graduating, and for it to progress into summer! John and I went rock climbing last week and then slack lining yesterday. The weather is trying to rid everyone of their seasonal affective disorder.

Speaking of spring....I finally got around to cleaning my car. I'm the worst person at this...I don't know why. After cleaning i always feel so accomplished so i'm not sure why i don't venture down that road more often. my mom is coming this week, so i decided to do a little spring cleaning in my room, too. It was much needed...with being so busy with school and everything, sadly i put tidyness on the back burner. bad idea...having a clean room makes the stress level go down..or at least helps a little bit.

So a few weeks ago, paige showed me this amazing video that will change your life. It is beautiful...and somehow..reminds me of spring and warmth and happiness.

Update...

Just FYI: I will be done with statistics in less than one week. This means 3 more credits closer to graduating. No worries, i won't let you forget how much time i have left to graduate.

Life Lessons 101

okay, so the previous post took me over a week to post, so i'm playing catch up. I had an interesting experience happen to me today. Most days that I work, I tend to have some eventful story to share, but today was just ONE of THOSE days. You know... the days that you just don't seem to end. I love my job. Well, actually I simply just love nursing, and I happen to have a great job. 95% of the time, my job is busy and hard, but the other 5% I wonder why I wake up to go to work, wipe bums, brush teeth, give meds, etc... I must say, I think most nurses feel this way; the majority of the time our job gets overlooked, but let me tell you it's not easy (but I promise it's worth it). Today i was reminded of why I do my job. It isn't for the glamour and glitz, because trust me, there isn't any... It's for the people who realize what we really do.

Today was a horrible day at work. After 930am, anything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I have not had this bad of a day in a long time, if ever. I really struggled with one of my patients family members, but tried and tried my hardest to keep her happy and to remember that caring for the family is as important as caring for the patient. After a very long, LONG day (i swear the 12 was only 4 hours it went by so fast and I as so far behind), the family member that I had struggled with reminded me, very graciously, in a way that I will never forget, why I do what I do. I love my patients...no my job is not glamorous...but I was meant to be a nurse. As bad as today was, it was worth every moment. Tomorrow, I get to get up, go to work, and get the opportunity to care and love for people who need it in the most difficult times of their lives. I'm grateful after today that I don't get applauded or put on a pedastool for what I do. If I did, it wouldn't make my job as special, or the moments like today as special. I am a nurse because I love it and because people need me to care for them. Do what you do because you love it and want to do it. Don't do it for any other reason.

the BIG change...

in nursing school, i would change my hair every month. seriously. whether i chopped or dyed it, you could bet on it being different. It was the stress, i'm telling you, stress. Well recently, due to my stress (see previous post)...yes, you guessed it: I changed my hair. I'm still growing it out, but I think it is time for the blackness of it to go.

Okay, it's hard to tell in the picture. but you get my point, it was a big change. It took me a day or two to like it, along with some other people, but I now love it.

Birthdays, Cupcakes, and Life

So as many of you know...i'm trying to finish up my very last semester of college. That is right...LAST SEMESTER. No grad school for me, at least for right now. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, I absolutely love being a nurse, but I don't love having 12 credits (which involves physics, stats, and research), working full time, and still trying to remotely breathe is a fairly difficult task to do. In my old age, after turning 22, I'm starting to feel the crow's feet enlarge on my face. I can't help but laugh.
Anyway, my birthday was fabulous. Started off with a day of snowboarding, no concussions (just some minor whiplash), class(could have done without, of course), dinner and relaxing with John, and my roommates decorating my room. Thanks to everyone, especially for the family birthday at home and for all the great gifts and phone calls. I am so excited to be an Auntie x2. Saturday, paige, jen, andrea, and I went to dinner, shopping, and to see Bride Wars. Bad reviews, but I thought it was worth seeing, and included a great moral-to-the-story ending. Needless to say, Thanks again to everyone....can't believe 23 is just around the corner. How time flies! Hopefully this post doesn't sound like i'm miserable. Life is great.
