thanks.

this year i had thanksgiving off from work so i went home for almost a week. i was the first one to arrive home and so my mom and i did plenty of shopping, cooking, and of course, as previously stated in the post below, went and saw new moon. jamie, robert, and their little bun in the oven* came in wednesday night from St. Louis and christopher, mard, eli, and taters came in thanksgiving morning. oh i love my boys (and everyone else, too..but being auntie is the best). we had our classic thanksgiving of cooking and playing games. i decided taters was my date because he would never leave my side. i swear he was the cutest date i ever had. we also went to the arboretum and botanical gardens and walked around the Christmas light display that they put on. saturday, as tradition always goes, we went and picked out our Christmas tree. the trip home was great but short.

*a little NEWS FLASH. as previously promised....I'M GOING TO HAVE A NIECE! (and a healthy one which is the most important thing). i couldn't be happier or more excited.

Sophie was the first one to greet me...no, her fur is not pink in real life but for some reason the picture looks that way.

happy tate.

i only have a few pictures of eli because he doesn't really hold still long enough to take one. here are two from hunting for candy at the Christmas Tree farm.

this is by far one of my new favorite pictures of my boys. they are just too cute.happy thanksgiving!

so eager...

i wrote this post over a week ago at work and for some reason it would not post so it is a little late.
alright, so i have to admit, and in a shameless manner, that my plans for this past friday night were made for me weeks slash possibly months ago. new moon (the twlight saga for those who have been living under a rock) opened november 20th. my roommates and i bought tickets weeks ago. we also made fantastic shirts...and yes, there is photographic evidence of this. to make this twilight weekend even more unforgetable, i now own the cheesy Twilight because we couldn't find a copy to rent anywhere on thursday night to have a new moon kick-off and to refresh our memories of what happened (unless you were paige an re-read the book. thanks paige, it was a blessing to know what was accurate in the movie).

and to make this even better...i've already seen it a second time with my mom. only this time i wasn't as ridiculous as the teenage girls sitting in front of us taking pictures of jacob during the movie on their camera phones. no joke.

a few thoughts.

i love the weekend. even though i have plenty of time off during the weekdays, i still love fridays and saturdays. but...these weekends (meaning the ones i work) kill me. i'm sitting at work, day 3/4 in a row. don't get me wrong, i planned my schedule this way so i can have long weekends the other two weeks of the schedule and i love my job... but sometimes it is painful to be at the hospital for over 50 hours in four days. it just makes me totally exhausted.
here are some things that are happening that are on my mind. the nordstrom half yearly is going on. sadly, (although i did find some good deals and a some cute things) i just went shopping so i'm not even thinking of gracing the doorway of that store with my presence. secondly, we just found out our christmas bonus is coming a month early. hello next pay period..please come quickly. another thing is i'm jealous because my parents are in dallas for tate's blessing....only 16 days until i get to go back to kansas for thanksgiving AND see my babies/boys. fingers crossed i do not get sick this year. in honor of little tater tot, here are two of my new favorite pictures of him.

halloween and other happenings.

so our apartment decided to have a theme for our costumes this year. drum roll please. yes, we decided to be super heroines. poor paige had some issues deciding between catwoman and superwoman, and to save her the embarrassment of the photo i have of her, i will not post evidence of the superwoman costume. andrea was elasti-girl/mrs. incredible and i was batgirl.
i was also a cat for work but do not have any pictures.
our activities started on thursday night and continued all the way until the early morning hours of sunday. we went to a few parties, a chili dinner, a haunted house (which we decided to frequent twice), and two scary movies (haunting in connecticut and mothman prophecies). don't worry...friday night i slept with my light on. no, i'm not kidding you.

also, i almost forgot to mention our scary story telling party we had the weekend before. we had quite a turn out, and tried to end the night out with a slumber party and scary movie. too bad my roommates bailed and fell asleep during the scary movie.

question.

anyone have any ideas for a new hobby...or something to do on my day off besides shopping/spending money?
ps. i'm not the scrapbooking type. that is not an acceptable response.
also, my oldest nephew turned 2 on the 9th. i just love it when he calls me and when he leaves me voicemails. i listen to them over and over. pathetic i know...but it is precious.

surprise....

this weekend i flew home to surprise my dad for his birthday....and it was a total surprise. my mom and i totally pulled it off. shelly came home with me and i showed her how kc really is....and it is not a flat wheat field. sorry to all those who think that, you are misinformed. we flew in thursday and went to zarda...BY FAR the best barbecue...or at least my favorite. their ribs are to die for. seriously. friday mom and dad had to work so we went to liberty and independence to see the church history sites and then went to a royals game (aka Shelly's first MLB game ever) with rk. i wanted to go to a red sox vs royals game the night before, but it didn't work out so we ended up watching them lose to the twins. rk gets a military discount so we got pretty good seats for way cheap.
saturday was packed...we went with sophie to strut with your mutt. she had a blast, and sadly i have no pictures. it was darling though...hundreds of dogs and some of them in cute clothes. sophie refused to wear the clothes she has, she prefers just to sport her bling in her collar. after strut with your mutt, we went shopping up to the Legends and spent way too much money as usual. oh well. i got the cutest sweater from banana republic and it was a steal of a deal, among some other cute things, too. i also bought some grey boots that i was dying to get. saturday night we went to the Plaza art festival. the plaza is one of my favorite places in kansas city, and thank goodness for my wallet/budget we went at night so all the stores were closed. the art festival was awesome, i'm sad i haven't gone in previous years. monday we went to farwest and adam-ondi-ahman with dad. it was cold and windy outside but still beautiful and a fun day. overall, it was a fun trip home. i love the midwest, especially kansas city. and i can't believe it but i'll be home in less than two months for thanksgiving!
i forgot to mention panera. i ♥ panera. don't worry, we ate there 3 times.

i just realized i don't have any pictures of mom, dad, or sophie from this trip. i'll have to be better about that over the holidays.
