one thing checked off on the bucket list

last week shel and i went to san diego for marissa's wedding and to see rk since he gets out of the marines in t-minus 3 days from today. can i please move to san diego? we left on thursday and came back today...i almost had to be dragged on the plane as i was praying we would miss it. anyway, it was quite an eventful trip. we went to del mar beach, multiple in-n-out trips, dancing, knott's berry farm, driving around in "the golden egg" in downtown san diego, a quick trip to LA, a visit to malibu to lay out on zuma beach, and coronado. although this was all a blast, there was one thing that we did that is my new found love. i jumped out of a plane at 13000 feet. yes, i went skydiving. i have always wanted to, but never have been able to. rk and i have been talking about it since the beginning of april, and so yes, i jumped out a perfectly good plane (yes, tandem, but that is a small detail right?)
so skydiving is the biggest rush. the guys at the place we jumped told us never to come back because it is like heroin. well i don't know what heroin is like, but i am now addicted to skydiving, or at least i wish i could be (financially it probably is not the best addiction). i didn't buy the video, but there are before and after pictures. please, if you have the chance....GO! you will not regret it.
anyway, here are a few pictures. i'm sure i'll post some more stories/pictures after i recover from being sleep-deprived. oh..another fabulous thing...THERE IS PANERA IN CALIFORNIA!
Just getting to the beach in del mar...
In-n-Out

Going out in Pacific Beach
pre-skydiving.

look what i just found

aren't these precious...
mark your calendar- may 6th is nurses day.

tribute.

so this post is a little over due. last week paige face moved out of the lovely 215. it was a tragedy. good thing she still works in provo so she will be down here to keep me entertained in my new found freedom of no school. also, she is living at her sisters which opens up a hot tub (if the key can ever be found) as well as an escape from provo. i think many vacations to draper may be in order. here is a recent picture before she ran away from home.

life isn't the same without perusing the one spot and watching movies with unconditional chocolate.

bringing back memories.

yesterday i came up to salt lake to see shel. we had some things planned, but kind of last minute we decided to go see the fall out boy concert at the saltair. not going to lie...they are not really my favorite band slash i haven't listened to them since high school. needless to say, they were pretty good, and some of the bands before were pretty good, too. i was surprised at how many songs i remembered. the most entertaining thing of the night was that it reminded me of high school, and made me feel old. in high school, i would go to concerts all the time and (this is embarrassing) i would go crazy. not that i'm that much older, but i don't think i miss the sweaty/smelly punk rock band atmosphere anymore. we also saw david archuleta who was there watching the show. he is precious, probably more precious face to face then on tv.

just trying to be hardcore. seriously...we were trying to fit in :] oh the memories.

just thinking.

today has been a weird day at work. actually this past month has been depressing but also has made me realize how lucky i am. i have sent almost one person home every shift on hospice or they have died. i know we are all going to die, but so many of these patients are so young. it really makes me realize how lucky i am and how grateful i am for all the blessings i have. realizing how easily life can pass by has reminded me of all the little things.
on a lighter note... i have two tests left and then i'm graduated. i go home for a week on may 6th. i love may in kansas...it is tornado season meaning that the thunderstorms are the best. this past weekend paige, jen, and i went to a byu baseball game. it reminded me of summers in kansas going to the royals games. i'm going to miss it, even though this is my third summer away. shelly and i are planning a trip to california. we bought tickets yesterday and are totally stoked. her roommate is getting married and my friend RK who has been in iraq with the marines is finally home and stationed in san diego. i missed him last time he was in KC for RR, so it will be so good to see him. i am ready for a vacation and the beach and some sun.
